Preparation of oral mouth wash and their characterization using chicken IgY antibodies against Candida albicans

ABSTRACT

Candida albicans is an opportunistic yeast fungus which causes oral thrush or oral candidiasis. Chicken IgY has been identified as an alternative for the treatment of oral candidiasis. 21 weeks old white leghorn chicken which lays eggs was immunized with Candida albicans. The anti-Candida albicans IgY was purified and their protein content was estimated. The specificity of produced IgY was tested with Rapid Agglutination test.  SDS-PAGE analysis of IgY showed a protein profile of the IgY, antibody titre potency of each serum and IgY was determined by Indirect ELISA. The present study was conducted to formulate oral mouth wash against Candida albicans which can be treated for people to get rid of oral thrush or oral candidiasis and was preferred to the patients. The produced oral mouth wash was undergone stability checking for their shelf life.
