“Prevalance of Back Pain in Collegiate Student And It’s Associated With Back Pain”

ABSTRACT
Aim of study: Back pain among collegiate students all over the world is on the rise. Backpacks come in all sizes, shapes and help children’s of all ages express their own personal sense of style.
Introduction: Across the nation, millions of elementary, high school and college students are racing out to the school bus or carrying to their classes with overstuffed backpacks hang over their shoulders. While carrying a backpack to school each morning might seem harmless enough, it can cause some painful back and neck problems for students. Students carry their educational loads mostly in backpacks.
Methodology: The study was cross sectional study involved surveying collegiate students. The colligate students were selected from grades l5 to 27. The age group of these students ranged from ages 28 to 30 years. According to a study done in India the prevalence of back pain was 60%. And using this value in the sample size formula. This cross-sectional study was conducted among a total of 100 university students.
Result: In this study, a total number of 100 questionnaires had given to 100 students. However, 30 students declined due to no pain to participate in this study. Thus, 70 questionnaires were collected. Form a total number of 70 students. 70 of them had given the consent. Thus, 70 students’ responses were analysed.
Discussion: The main findings that are discussed in this study are the prevalence of low back pain, the disability level among university students due to LBP and the association between heavy backpack and low back pain.
Conclusion: We conclude from our study that, 36 (51.4%) students experienced back pain. The overall prevalence of low back pain among university students, with female gender having the highest prevalence of low back pain compared males. The overall disability level among university students due to LBP was minimal.
