Quadcopter System Design and Implementation: MATLAB/Simulink Modeling for Enhanced Applications and Hardware Integration

Author Name : Amenah Mohammed A, B. Amarendra Reddy

The quadcopter, a widely used type of unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), has rapidly gained prominence across various fields due to its versatility, maneuverability, and ease of control. This paper presents a structured framework for developing a comprehensive quadcopter system model, starting from a foundational physical model and incrementally incorporating additional complexities to capture real-world dynamics better. Further, the study delves into implementing these models with MATLAB and Simulink, capitalizing on their computational power and extensive toolsets to streamline model creation, validation, and testing. By harnessing MATLAB/Simulink's advanced processing and seamless hardware integration, this framework is an optimal platform for simulating and deploying sophisticated UAV models suited for real-time applications. The primary goal of this work is to offer a systematic approach to quadcopter modeling and highlight the practical utility of MATLAB/Simulink for UAV design and control.
