ABSTRACT

Whey is a term that generally refers the translucent liquid part of the milk which remains in the process of cheese manufacturing. Proteins are the nitrogen-containing substances which are formed by the amino acids. Whey proteins are separated and also purified by using various techniques to obtain different concentrations of whey proteins. Whey protein provides high level of branched and essential chain amino acids. In addition to these, whey protein is rich in minerals and vitamins. This protein provides various advantages to the individuals ofdifferent applications like sports, cancer treatment, athletes, etc. β-lactoglobulin and α-lactalbumin are major components of whey also plays major role in whey protein.β-Lactoglobulin is a globular protein that is present in the milk of many mammalian species including ruminants, such as cows and sheep, and some non-ruminants, such as pigs and horses while Alpha-lactalbumin, is a component of the lactase synthetase complex, accounts for 41% of the whey and 28% of the total protein. But it is rich in cow and goat milk as compared to other milks. It is an important source of bioactive peptides and essential amino acids, including tryptophan, lysine, cysteine, branched-chain amino acids, and sulfur-containing amino acids, all of which are crucial for infant nutrition. Glutathione is synthesized by cysteine. This amino acid act as glutathione “precursors,” and effectively increase the body's production of glutathione. Rapid industrialization and commercialization have changed our living standard and dietary habits. While the world is grappling to combat the corona virus and each day there are new milestones achieved, none of them guarantees complete protection, and vaccination seems to be the only recourse at the moment . Added to that, there is a constant fear of newer respiratory infections with the way the global landscape is changing. Patients suffering from virus can be cured but even after recovery they still have symtoms. In such a situation the body's demand for anti-oxidant increases hugely, placing all the more importance on consuming antioxidant-rich food or immunitybooster tablets. Therefore, this study aims to focus on role of Glutathione which is an ideal adjuvant nutraceutical supplement for prevention, management and recovery in post COVID 19.The present review will also focus on the molecular mechanisms of operation of the GSH system, with special attention to regulatory pathways controlling the expression of the enzymes involved. Information on role of glutathione in whey protein to trigger post covid, comparative analysis of whey proteins and applications will be highlighted.
