Author Name : Dr. Aishwarya R Vijapur, Dr. Rajalaxmi M G
ABSTRACT
Ayurveda described various skin diseases under the single heading Kushta. In Charaka Samhita, Acharya Charaka explained Ashtadasha Kushta under two main categories namely ‘Maha kushta’ and ‘Kshudra Kushta’. Kushta is tridoshaja vyadhi, however the symptoms appear according to the dosha predominance. Vamana karma is one amongst the Panchakarma therapy considered as the best therapy for the elimination of vitiated kapha and kapha samsrista dosha. Psoriasis is a well-established auto immune disease characterized by patchy skin lesions which is typically red in colour associated with itching and scaling. Depending upon the clinical presentation of Psoriasis having predominance of kapha dosha Vamana karma was selected. Case presentation: A 27 years old male, diagnosed case of psoriasis came to our hospital with complaints of itching and dryness in the whole body, red patches all over the body and scaling from the scalp since 9 years. He was tired of trying all kinds of medicines and depressed. The improvement was significantly increased during the course of Vamana karma and shamanoushadhi.
