Rural Youth: Assessment of Socio-Economic Lifestyle and Attitude towards Migration

ABSTRACT Youth are the best human resources which can make rapid development of any country. Indian economy is rural based economy. Rural development implies both economic prosperity of people and social transformation. Youth development plays a crucial role for increasing the rural economy. Youth plays a prominent role in development of our nation. However, rural youth are facing several challenges due to poor facilities in villages. This study has examined the socioeconomic lifestyle and migration scenario of rural youth. Therandom sampling technique and survey method has used for data collection of rural youth in selected area. It is concluded that a number of serious problems confront young people in rural areas relatively high rate of unemployment, marginalization, a lack of appropriate resources, below education level that available in towns and cities and poor career prospects which leads to poor socioeconomic status and migration as well. Due to these challenges the rural youth move to urban areas for earn their livelihood to live good lifestyle.
