ABSTRACT
The COVID 19 pandemic marked the shift from classroom teaching to online classes. This change brought into focus the marked discrepancies in the learning styles of students and forced them to move out of their comfort zone which was to attend a structured, teacher-centric class. Even though the newCBME curriculum insisted on the adoption of the newer learning strategies like SDL, it had not gained an impetus among students. The method of conduct of SDL was explained to the students via social media and teaching resources were also provided. The pandemic forced the students to start adjusting to SDL, but we still did not know what their perspectives were regarding SDL. Hence, a questionnaire containing both open and closed-ended questions was designed and given to them to obtain their feedback and views about this method of learning. We found that the students find SDL acceptable and would like more sessions of these. But, when it comes to assessments, they remain in doubt regarding the efficacy of SDL.
