Seasonal Physico-chemical variation of Devarjan reservoir from Udgir region Dist Latur Maharashtra

 ABSTRACT

India’s inland resources are important source of food and provides employment to sizeable sections of the society in rural area. The Devarjan reservoir is a medium sized earthen reservoir having full water spread area 401 ha constructued near Devarjan village Taluka Udgir District Latur in 1993, on river Devari for irrigation purpose. The geo coordinate of Devarjan reservoir are Lattitude 18.33325180’N’ and Longitude 76.99484820’E. The present work was mainly undertaken to investigate various aspects of Devarjan reservoir. Physico-chemical parameters of Devarjan reservoir were investigated during December 2020 to November 2021 and this is the first effort in this direction. During the present study seasonal variation of physio chemical parameters like Temperature is  22.9OC to 31.50C  with mean temperature 27.22 O C, Transparency  40 to 130 cm with mean transparency 57.41cm,  pH 7.3 to 8.8 cm with mean pH 8.35, Dissolved Oxygen(DO) is 3.1 to 6.5 mg/litre with mean DO 4.375 mg/litre, Free CO2 is Nil to 0.4 mg/litre with mean Free CO2 0.29 mg/litre Total  Alkalinity is 172 to 228 mg/litre with mean 201.16 mg/litre,  Total Hardness 130 to 230 mg/litre with mean 189.83 mg/litre,  Calcium hardness 52.50 to 90.30 mg/litre with mean 69.51 mg/litre, Magnesium hardness 18.91 to 34.08 mg/litre with mean 29.56 mg/litre, calcium 21.04 to 36.19 mg/litre with mean 27.84 mg/litre, Chlorides 21.27 to 42.54 mg/litre with mean 29.42 mg/litre, Salinity 38.42 to 76.81mg/litre with mean 51.13 mg/litre and TDS 270 to 350 mg/litre with mean 303.33 mg/litre were analyzed and recorded.
