Self-Development and Parenting in Khaled Hosseini’s the Kite Runner
Author Name : Yash Dahiya
ABSTRACT
The Kite Runner is the debut novel of Khaled Hosseini, an Afghan-American novelist. Amir, the protagonist of the novel, was raised in affluent circumstances. He deems himself a coward, is not like his father in disposition, and has been troubled for years by a childhood incident. Kite is a significant element in The Kite Runner, and for Amir, it represents both his betrayal of Hassan and his joyous youth. Children who are missing maternal affection, like Amir, constantly seek their father's love and care. However, his father's disregard for him caused him to harbour an inferiority complex for so long. Amir was incensed by this and became envious as a result. Amir fled the rape of his innocent friend Hassan because of a lack of self-confidence and envy. In Amir's life it causes remorse and embarrassment. There is no absolute redemption. Even though Amir and Hassan were still youngsters, their behaviour was significantly different due to their upbringing. Since childhood, A person's personality is frequently shaped by the words and deeds of others. One child may grow shy as a result of parental hurt. By looking at a few elements, we may identify the personality of the individual whose behaviours represent that personality.
