Shavasana: Relaxation Technique to Combat Stress and Benefits

ABSTRACT Shavasana is a pose used in many different yoga types and practices. Shavasana is a practice of complete surrender and relaxation. The word ‘Shavasana’ originated from the ancient history of yoga known as Shavasana or Savasana that takes its name from two Sanskrit words ‘Shava’ which means cobra and asana which means post. Savasana is the great yoga pose which helps in nervous systems. The main aspire of this asana is to reproduce a corpse; it is not only the body which must be brought to tranquility but also the mind. This asana is usually practiced at the end of any session of yoga and serves to deeply relax both body and mind.
