Smart Helmet for Improving Safety in Mining Industry

ABSTRACT

The smart helmet system is designed for the mining workers that is used for the detection of hazardous events in the mine and to alert the miners from hazardous gas emissions inside it. The helmet monitors the physical conditions of the worker and sends a notification via Mobile.Gyroscope and Accelerometer sensors are used for fall detection that may result from drowsiness, fatigue, accidents etc. It provides real-time monitoring of harmful gases like LPG, Smoke, Alcohol, Propane, Hydrogen, Methane and Carbon Monoxide and also temperature. The system uses GSM technology for the transmission of data from the underground mine to the base station.
