Student Interest in Present Politics in Odisha with special reference to Sambalpur University: An Empirical study

ABSTRACT
India is proud to be the largest democracy in the world. For about seventy years, we have witnessed the conduct of successful elections, peaceful changes of government at the Centre and in the States, people exercising freedom of expression, movement and religion. At the same time, we quite often experience rampant inequalities, injustice or non fulfilment of social expectations. Today politics is a burning issue not only in whole India but also in Odisha state with special reference to Sambalpur University. India will be a youngest nation in the world after 2020 and present prime minister of India, Narendra Damodar Modi insist to young people should come forward and join hands in country’s developing process. Politics also one of the major area where young leaders can enter and work not only for development of nation but also give welfare to the poor people and marginalized people of the society. The central puzzle of this research is whether the young students of this Sambalpur University are interest to enter politics or not? Along with this central question, the study also looks at other related questions. Whether young leaders can change the present political scenario? The research revolves round these questions. The aim of the project to study and examine the interest of the students towards present politics and to study and highlights students view on political parties.
