Surgical Treatment for Giant Pancreatic Pseudocyst. A Case Report

Author Name : Dr. Gustavo Eduardo Muñoz Delgado, Dr. Jaime Enrique Flores Avila, Dr. Marcos Agustin Acosta Sandoval

ABSTRACT

Introduction: Pancreatic pseudocyst presents as an early complication, 2 to 6 weeks following acute pancreatitis. It is characterized as an intra-abdominal collection with necrotic tissue capsule without an epithelium. Most cases have spontaneous resolution; surgical management is indicated only in those who are symptomatic or develop some complication, such as hemorrhage, infection, portal hypertension, biliary tract obstruction or rupture.
