The Age of Minimalism

Author Name : Faizaan A. Siddiqui, Prashant Acharya

ABSTRACT Design is all about bringing order to complexity and iterating it in the simplest form possible. Today, design has shifted its core purpose from not only looking aesthetically pleasing but also working without any barriers in the simplest way possible. The biggest challenge today is to narrow down all the complexities of the past and the present and think of a sustainable design for the future. The way to take a stab at it is not as simple as it may sound. Design trends over the last few years have become minimal, linear and neomorphism. Today, things are simpler because the designers have understood that solutions not only need to solve a problem but also be simpler in its function and appearance. The user interactions with the design solutions should be lightweight but amplified. User Experience has been a part of design just like atoms have been a part of the universe. They came into existence together. But the term User Experience was coined much later in 1993 by Don Norman for his group at Apple Computer.
