Author Name : S. Srinidhi, Lemuela Mary. J, M. Saravanapriya, Saghana Maghendran
ABSTRACT
Gene editing technology has opened up new possibilities for modifying the genetic makeup of humans, including the ability to enhance desirable traits and eliminate genetic diseases. While gene editing offers potential benefits, it also raises ethical, legal, and social concerns. In India, the legal framework surrounding gene editing and designer babies is still in its infancy. This research paper aims to examine the current legal framework and explore the ethical and social implications of gene editing and designer babies in India. In conclusion, gene editing and designer babies have the potential to transform the future of human life. However, it is essential to ensure that the technology is regulated in a manner that is ethical, socially responsible, and legally compliant. This research paper argues that there is a need for a robust legal framework to regulate gene editing and designer babies in India. Such a framework should balance the potential benefits of gene editing with the ethical and social implications, and ensure that the technology is not used in ways that could lead to discrimination, inequality, or harm.
