The Role of Leadership in Pandemic: Business Endurance

ABSTRACT Since the beginning of 2020, the world has been challenging with severe health and economic concerns of a novel form of pneumonia caused by SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19). This Pandemic stares to be a persistent and existential challenge for organizational leadership all over the world. Though this learning is to enticement from the repressive and transformational leadership styles it required advance further understanding on the underlying mechanisms that enable leaders to behave in an autocratic or transformational manner, which may disturb employee motivation, their Behaviour and consequently, their managerial oriented ventures. This paper intends to determine the role of leadership style in motivating the team to be committed to their work during the recent crisis. The study reveals that there is a strong relationship between transformational leadership behaviors and commitment. The findings further highlighted the connection trust, inspiring a shared vision, encouraging creativity and emphasizing development as positive aspect that motivate subordinates. While it is often argued that transformational leadership cannot raise job satisfaction, however the commitment of team to their job can raise job satisfaction and ultimately improve performance.
