The Role of Remittances in Economic Development: A Cross-Country Analysis in Southeast Asia

ABSTRACT In today’s globalized economy, remittances—money sent by migrants to their home countries—play a crucial role in shaping economic landscapes. This study investigates the relationship between remittances, exchange rates, and unemployment rates across eight Southeast Asian countries over the period 2011 to 2023. Through statistical analysis, we explore how fluctuations in exchange rates and unemployment levels influence remittance inflows and their contribution to economic development.
