ABSTRACT

Understanding India's religious beliefs and practises is essential for understanding the country's culture and society. These beliefs and practises have a significant impact on the personal lives of the majority of Indians and have an impact on public life on a daily basis. Religions in India have profound historical origins, which are still recollected by Indians of the present day. It is primarily through religious scriptures that the old culture of South Asia, which dates back at least 4,500 years, has made its way into Indian history. Religious philosophy and symbolism have always played an important role in the development of the artistic legacy, as well as in the development of intellectual and philosophical contributions. Through contacts with other cultures, Hinduism and other Indian religions have spread throughout the world, resulting in the extensive influence of Indian thought and practise on Southeast Asia and East Asia in ancient times and the diffusion of Indian religions to Europe and North America more recently. On a daily basis, the vast majority of people in India participate in ritual behaviours that are driven by religious systems that are deeply rooted in the past yet are constantly growing. The role of religion in Indian history and present life, therefore, is one of the most important aspects of both.
