Author Name : Tejashri B. Kadu, Prapti V. Ghode, Tanaya A. Giri

ABSTRACT An artificial liver support system is a therapeutic intervention designed for the temporary assist or to replace the essential functions of a damaged or failure liver. It can sometimes involve the use of bioartifical devices or possibly extracorporeal technique to detoxify the blood as well as to regulate metabolic processes, providing crucial support until the patient’s own liver function hopefully improves or a suitable transplant becomes available. This technology aims to bridge the gap for individual with acute and chronic liver failure, offering potential lifeline while awaiting more definitive treatment options. This review explores the current landscape of artificial liver support systems, examining their technological advancement, clinical applications, and efficacy in managing liver failure. This study aimed to conduct a literature review investigating the differences between the types of liver support systems, such as single-pass albumin dialysis (SPAD), extracorporeal liver support (ECLS), and molecular adsorbent recirculating system (MARS) in liver failure in human studies with sources from international publication sites.
