Understanding the Attitudes of Communities to Migration from Rural Areas to Urban Areas in India
Author Name : Saurabh Sankar, Dr. Sashi Lata Singh
One of the primary factors affecting population change and spatial redistribution is migration. Both advantages and disadvantages of migration exist. The current study aims to comprehend the patterns of rural-to-urban migration and its effects on urbanization and the growth of slums. Due to the vastness and complexity of the topic of migration, it may be challenging to anticipate every potential consequence of rural-urban mobility. The current study concentrates on the two most significant consequences of rural-urban migration, namely the positive impact on the growth and development of cities as an opportunity and the negative impact on the development of slums-as a challenge.
Keywords: migration, rural-to-urban, urbanization, slums, population change, spatial redistribution, opportunities, challenges.
