Unsuspected Breast Implant Rupture Unveiled by FDG-PET/CT In An Oncological Setting: Case Report

ABSTRACT

We report the case of a80-year-old woman with a history of breast reconstruction with silicone implant for breast cancer. The patient presented some clinical signs of local recurrence. An FDG-PET/CT performed several years later revealed the presence of a ruptured silicone implant, and axillary enlarged nodules. This case displays no FDG uptake in what could potentially be explained by silicone granulomas affecting the breast after implant reconstruction.
