Azolla pinnata, a hydrophytic fern which symbiotically associate with Anabaena azollae, a blue - green algae is establish itself as prospective bio fertilizer by converting atmospheric Nitrogen to its soluble form. The plants are capable only to uptake nitrogen in its soluble form from soil. The present study aims to assess the use of Azolla- Anabaena as bio fertilizer in Assam. The fern Azollais grown abundantly in ponds, wetlands, cannels and riversides along with Salviniaand Pistia as aquatic weed.
