X-Rays in Space: Origins, Detection, and Applications
Author Name : Shweta Khakhkhar, Himali Chavda, Riddhi Patel
ABSTRACT This paper explores how the temperature of celestial objects influences the radiation they emit, with higher temperatures emitting shorter wavelengths. X-rays, emitted by objects like pulsars and black holes, provide valuable insights into distant space phenomena. X-ray telescopes act as specialized tools to observe X-ray emissions, helping scientists understand the composition and temperature of celestial objects. They achieve this by using special mirrors to direct X-rays onto detectors. Additionally, X-ray detection techniques, exemplified by NASA's Mars Exploration Rover, have diverse applications in studying planetary compositions, particularly detecting heavier elements like metals. These techniques significantly contribute to our understanding of both celestial phenomena and planetary compositions.
