XRD, UV-VIS, PL and Thermal Studies of Lead Iodide Crystal

ABSTRACT

Lead iodide crystal grown by gel method using single diffusion method. Optimum conditions to grow these crystals have been obtained. The optical and structural properties of the crystals were investigated using X-ray diffraction, UV-VIS spectroscopy, photoluminescence spectroscopy. In addition, the study included also the thermal analysis of lead iodide crystal. XRD confirm the structure of lead iodide as hexagonal, also the lattice parameters are closely matching with JCPDS data of lead iodide. Band gap energy of lead iodide crystal was calculated from the UV-VIS spectrometry. TG curve shows that the crystal was thermally stable and decomposed. DTA curves showed endothermic and exothermic reactions.
