Author Name : Sampada Kaul, Nikhil Srivastava, Vivek Rana, Noopur Kaushik

ABSTRACT

ECC is the most typical form of caries in infants and toddlers who require extensive treatment and may show low levels of compliance with follow-up care. This compels pediatric dentists to opt for definitive restorative management such as full coverage restorations. With the advent of globalization and an ever-increasing media exposure, esthetics has become extremely important for the present generation. Thus, a quest for reliable esthetic full coverage options led to the evolution of Zirconia crowns in Pediatric dentistry. These crowns provide high strength and color similar to natural teeth. Nevertheless, they require more tooth preparation, cannot be crimped or contoured and are expensive. Numerous studies have revealed the potential advantage of zirconia crowns over the conventional SSCs and strip crowns, not only in terms of esthetics, but also improved gingival health and patient/parental satisfaction.
