A Review Paper on concrete Pile Encased with Sand Cushion in Clayey Soil Bed

ABSTRACT
During pile driving inclay, clayey soil has less friction between the pile surface and the clay layer,ifan encased cushion of crushed sand is placed around the periphery of the pile surface as, it can beincreasing the pile's friction resistance andas a result, improving pile load carrying capacity.In the present,an experimental study on performance of concrete bored pile encased with sand cushion in clayey soil bed with respect to its various parameters is carried out. For this purpose,the Black cotton soil is collectednear the ground of Government College of Engineering, Amravati. The concrete pile is cast-in-place in the fabricated test tank so as to similitude the field conditions and it is cured for three days before performing model pile load test on it. The effect of various parameters such as diameter and height ratioon the performance of concrete bored pile encased with sand cushion foundation is studied to find the optimum value. From the results of the study, it was found that the pile encased in sand cushion increases the load carrying capacity of pile. The optimum values of sand cushion obtained fromthe results in the present study may be used for the site conditions to providing encasingaround theconcrete piles in clayey soil bed.
