ABSTRACT
Neuroblastoma is a prevalent paediatric malignancy originating from neural crest cells that frequently manifests as an abdominal mass in young children. Early identification and comprehensive, multidisciplinary management are essential for favourable outcomes. This report presents the case of a 3.5-year-old male child who was referred for evaluation of abdominal enlargement and palpable masses. Physical examination revealed two masses — one in the umbilical region (3 × 5 cm) and another in the right paraumbilical region (3 × 3 cm). Abdominal ultrasonography demonstrated multiple oval-shaped lesions of mixed solid and cystic appearance, with the largest measuring 4.8 × 4.3 × 2.2 cm. Blood investigations confirmed anaemia. CT scan of the abdomen raised a differential diagnosis of neuroblastoma, which was subsequently confirmed by bone marrow aspiration showing abnormal cells consistent with metastatic disease.
