A Case Study of Documentation of Paper Manuscript: A Conservation Perspective

ABSTRACT

The word, documentation refers to register all information regarding any object, antiquity and monuments, etc. Documentation is crucial to the protection of museum collection, because without information any object could not identity properly. Stolen objects could not investigate by the competent authorities, mostly due to the lack of documents which would enable identifying it with certainty. Documentation system also assist to find out location for consumers wishing to purchase cultural objects legally. Besides it is also known as a part of conservation of any object, monuments etc. Documentation is the first step for the conservation work. Before giving any treatment to the object, scan all necessary images of the causes of deterioration and fill all related information and tested information in the documentation sheet. Proposed treatment report and after treatment report are also the parts of documentation system. Documentation is also known as a proof of restoration work. Because Conservator take photographs before, during and after the restoration work step by step. In this paper all details regarding case study on the documentation of manuscript would be described.
