A Comparative Study between Nyaya-Vaisesika Atomism and Greek Atomism

ABSTRACT According to the Nyaya-Vaisesika Philosophy atoms are eternal and indivisible. Atoms have no origin or destruction. There are four types of atoms - these are - earth atoms, water atoms, air atoms and light atoms. There is a qualitative difference between atoms.atoms are inactive and motionless. Nyaya-Vaisesikas said that Atoms are the material cause of the world. God produces motion in atoms. The world was created with the help of atoms according to the unseen power of the individual souls and the will of God, so that the living entity can enjoy the fruits of his actions. Nyaya-Vaisesikas said that the origin of the world is teleological.
