A Comparative Study of Bosu Ball-Based Ankle Strengthening Exercises vs Activity-Oriented Exercises for Hallux Valgus in Women

Author Name : Elakiya S, Sweeta Priyadarshini, Dr. B.S. Santhosh Kanna, Kunal R

ABSTRACT Purpose of the Study: This study aimed to compare the effectiveness of Activity-Oriented Exercises (AOT) versus Ankle Strengthening Exercises using a BOSU Ball in women with Hallux Valgus (HV) deformity. HV is a prevalent forefoot condition characterized by lateral deviation of the great toe, which affects gait, balance, and quality of life. The objective was to assess which intervention more effectively reduces the Hallux Valgus Angle (HVA) and improves foot function. Methodology: A comparative experimental study was conducted on 30 women aged 20–35 years with HVA greater than 15°. Participants were randomly divided into two groups: Group A, which performed Ankle Strengthening Exercises using BOSU-Ball, and Group B, which performed Activity-Oriented Exercises (AOT).
