Author Name : Rahul Patowary, Dr. Sandeep Kumar Sharma

ABSTRACT Maintaining a healthy liquidity and solvency position, or solid short-term and long-term financial footing, is critical to the smooth running of any organization. Keep in mind that just because a company has a strong solvency position doesn't imply it will have a strong liquidity position, and vice versa. The cement business in India is presently expanding at a remarkable rate, thanks to the government's massive support for a variety of infrastructure projects, housing facilities, and road networks. The Indian cement industry is projected to have more expansion in the years to come. The cement industry in India is crucial to the country's economic development. Manufacturing products, infrastructure, and employment are all greatly aided by India's steel and cement industries, which are crucial to the country's economic growth. This research looks at the financial health of a few selected cement and steel industries in India and how globalisation has impacted their status. Examining the capital structure and financial performance metrics including liquidity, leverage, efficiency, and profitability of cement and steel businesses, the study draws comparisons between the two industries. After analyzing financial data and market dynamics in depth, the report shows that cement and steel firms are becoming more efficient, having more liquidity, and using leverage. The present study found that cement businesses often have superior interest coverage ratios, lower debt, and greater returns on equity compared to steel enterprises. These metrics imply that cement companies are financially healthier and perform better. There may be an uptick in operational efficiency for cement companies thanks to their better inventory management practices. Insights like this provide the steel and cement sectors with valuable data that stakeholders can utilize to make informed decisions.
