A Comprehensive Review of Samprapti in Ayurveda and Clinical Significance
Author Name : Vd. Shinde Kaustubh Kailas, Vd. Abhay Khоt
ABSTRACT Samprapti is a fundamental concept in Ayurveda that explains the complete pathogenesis of disease, beginning from etiological factors (Nidana) to the full manifestation of clinical features (Vyakti). Understanding Samprapti is essential for accurate diagnosis, selection of appropriate Chikitsa, and effective Samprapti Bhanga (breaking the disease process). Classical Ayurvedic texts describe Samprapti as a dynamic process involving vitiation of Dosha, impairment of Agni, formation of Ama, derangement of Srotas, and localization of pathology in susceptible tissues (Dushya). This review aims to elaborate the concept of Samprapti, its stages, components, classifications, and clinical importance, with emphasis on its role in planning rational Ayurvedic management. A systematic understanding of Samprapti not only bridges theory with clinical practice but also enhances the correlation between Ayurveda and modern pathophysiology.
