A Conceptual Study of Postmenopausal Syndrome

ABSTRACT Postmenstrual Syndrome (PMS) is a recurring condition characterized by physical, emotional, and behavioral symptoms occurring after menstruation or during the late luteal phase. Modern medicine links its pathogenesis to neuroendocrine fluctuations, particularly changes in estrogen and progesterone, which influence neurotransmitter activity and fluid balance. In Ayurveda, PMS is understood in the context of Aartava Vyapad or Aartava Dushti, primarily involving vitiation of Apana Vata with varying contributions from Pitta and Kapha.
