A Literature Perspective on Models of Blended Learning in School Education
Author Name : Sarika Dhupar, Dr. Aabha Sharma
ABSTRACT
Blended learning is an approach that combines both traditional (face to face) and online teaching environments. Blended Learning is a two-way process where instructor serves as both facilitator and motivator for the pupils in the classroom (Kliger& Pfeiffer, 2011). After the advent of internet technology, blended learning has emerged immensely, and its usage has spread globally (Bonk & Graham, 2006). In the current pandemic phase of Covid-19, blended learning is suddenly becoming popular in traditional educational institutions, where it previously had no place, and it offers excellent learning possibilities for pupils. Each student has equal and continuous access to all learning information under this method, as well as the chance to collaborate and learn from one another (Vaughn, 2007). According to prior research, six models dominate the area of blended learning: face-to-face-driven model, rotation model, flex model, online lab model, self-blend model, and online-driven model (Watson &Murin, 2014; Grahan and Dziuban, 2008).
As a result of the growing relevance of blended learning in school education, the purpose of this study is to offer an overview of blended learning in school education and to explore its various models based on literature review. This study highlights that in order develop and execute blended learning components at school level, extensive strategic planning is required from institutional, technological, budgetary, and pedagogical perspectives.
