A Planning Proposal of Sustainable Urban Street: A Case Study of West Zone of Surat city.

ABSTRACT : The objective of this paper is that Streets constitute the majority of a city's public spaces and are essential to the public life of cities and towns. Streets should be built to provide both public space and movement corridors. Street design draws together multiple threads of public-making, environmental responsibility, social equality, and economic viability to support urban life. Street design and layout influence how people experience the natural surroundings as well as the distinctive features and peculiarities of a specific place. The primary goal of this paper is to better comprehend Sustainable urban street design, assess how it differs from the usual standardized and rigid transportation-landscape design strategy, and uncover broad design commonalities through case studies. It addresses the various street elements required to improve the quality of urban environments and the character of local streets, such as pedestrian related, road side element, carriageway, bicycle track and so on.
