ABSTRACT Boswellia serrata Roxb. ex Colebr., commonly known as Salai or frankincense, is a common plant found in Ayurvedic and traditional medicine that is famous for its therapeutic and anti-inflammatory properties. The gum resin generated from this deciduous tree, which comes to the Burseraceae family, is high in boswellic acids, which are currently extensively investigated for their potential to cure inflammatory conditions like rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis. Clinical trials have shown significant health advantages, and research supports its anti-diabetic, anti-obesity, and memory-enhancing activities. Boswellia serrata is seriously threatened because of overharvesting, despite its historical value and wide variety of uses. In order to maintain this valuable species and concentrate on its potential in modern medicine, methods of sustainable management are of vital importance.
