A Review on Identification Strategy of Monocrotophos Using Various Analytical Methods

ABSTRACT

Monocrotophos is an organophosphate pesticide and chemically known as Dimethyl(E)-1-methyl-2- (methyl carbamoyl) vinyl phosphate. These pesticides are hazardous to environment and produces neurotoxin effect, it also affects the humans by inhibiting the activity of acetylcholinesterase enzyme. This review provides information about the published analytical methods that are reported in the determination of monocrotophos. This review briefs out about the various analytical techniques like spectroscopic method (FTIR), chromatographic methods (TLC, HPTLC and HPLC) and hyphenated technique (LC-MS/MS) for the identification of monocrotophos. The write-up provides support for the further research and also helps to identify the required key solvents and their instrument availability in laboratory and also to select the best analytical condition to detect the monocrotophos.
