ABSTRACT The layout of a pharmaceutical plant is a crucial factor in the pharmaceutical sector, influencing the efficiency, safety, and quality of drug production. The design focuses on optimizing material flow, minimizing contamination risks, ensuring regulatory compliance, and facilitating smooth operations. A thoughtfully designed layout boosts productivity while ensuring adherence to Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) and regulatory requirements. Types of Layouts: Pharmaceutical plant layouts are typically classified into three main types: process layout, product layout, and cellular layout. A process layout organizes equipment and functions based on specific manufacturing processes, making it ideal for small-scale or versatile production. In contrast, a product layout arranges equipment in a linear fashion according to the production sequence, best suited for high-volume manufacturing of a single product.
