A Study of Cinematic Adaptation of A Suitable Boy into Television Series

ABSTRACT

In order to gratify a massive audience, film makers, serial makers and series makers from all over the globe have espoused literature writings for making movies, series and serials. The key reason for screen adaptations is the visual appeal to author’s writings. Moreover, there are limited readers for different genres. But TVs satisfy the thrust of a large heterogeneous audience with the element of ‘entertainment’. The idea of screen adaptations dates back years ago when people had limited options for entertainment and recreational activities. The study is based on cinematic adaptation of  A Suitable Boy which have been inspired by the writings of Vikram Seth. This is a qualitative research in which Seth’s novel ‘A Suitable Boy’ have been taken up by Bollywood film maker Mira Nair to make a TV series. The researcher has used content analysis method.
