ABSTRACT The Prime Minister Employment Generation Programme (PMEGP) is a flagship government effort in India aimed at encouraging self-employment and creating job possibilities. In order to provide a complete view of the PMEGP's success, the study included quantitative and qualitative data using a mixedmethod approach. The programme has effectively disbursed loans and subsidies to a significant number of recipients, allowing them to start micro-enterprises in a variety of industries. Furthermore, the PMEGP has offered crucial training and support services to entrepreneurs, strengthening their skills and capacity to efficiently manage their firms. Nonetheless, the research also pinpoints aspects of the PMEGP's execution that could be enhanced. It is imperative to prioritise the optimisation of the application process, the improvement of coordination among implementing agencies, and the provision of more focused support services to particular beneficiary groups. The PMEGP represents a commendable endeavour in India's endeavours to foster economic expansion and employment. The program's notable attributes consist of its extensive outreach, prioritisation of self-employment, and delivery of critical support services. However, ongoing assessment and improvement of the programme are crucial in order to optimise its efficacy and tackle emergent obstacles
