A Study on Educational Status of Women Representatives in Panchayati Raj Institutions in Bankura District

The Panchayati Raj System has played a critical role in depending   Democracy in rural India. Especially the government of India passed the 73rd Constitution Amendment Act, 1992, furnishing one third reservation of seats for women. This reservation policy is followed by the government of West Bengal with necessary amendments in its Panchayat Act. It has unfolded immense opportunities for the development and progress of the rural women. The inclusion of women in governance through reservation policies is anticipated to contribute to a sustained effort towards achieving gender equality. The Study explores the Educational Status of Women representative in Panchayati Raj institution.
