Action of Bacteria in Wastewater Treatment

Author Name : Lara Teli

ABSTRACT

Wastewater that has been adversely affected in quality by anthropogenic influence and must be treated before it is released into the water bodies. Wastewater treatment is a process, from which suitable water quality and drinking water are produced from wastewater. This process is performed in the wastewater treatment plant. The characteristics of wastewater treatment plants have also been considered which includes physical, chemical and biological treatment. The microbial contaminants lead to disease in a leading disease occurrence worldwide. Hence microbial contamination-free water also has to be managed. But some microbes help in the wastewater treatment plant to convert wastewater into quality water and maintain the Biological Oxygen Demand (BOD), Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD), Total Suspended Solids (TSS) concentration of the wastewater. Under this research paper, a cut to suit treatment technology has been developed to treat sewage. The treated sewage can be reused for various purposes like cooling water makeup, gardening, landscape development, toilet flushing, road washing, etc. thus leading towards water conservation.
