Advantages and Disadvantages of Catalysis in Agriculture& Food Production

Author Name : V. Rajasekhar Reddy

ABSTRACT Catalysis plays an important role in agriculture and food production by accelerating chemical reactions to increase yields, lower costs, and reduce energy usage. Enzymes act as natural catalysts in biological systems to synthesize proteins and carbohydrates. Catalysts are also used in beverage production to efficiently produce alcohol and release antioxidants. However, catalysts can introduce impurities and toxicity issues if not properly managed. While catalysts offer higher efficiencies, food manufacturers must consider the risks and put controls in place to reap the benefits without compromising product safety and quality. Overall, with proper controls, catalysts can enable improvements for the food industry through higher productivity, sustainability and product quality.
