An Effect of Marital Compatibility and Types of Family on the Psychological Well-Being of Married Couples

ABSTRACT The present investigation aimed to examine the effects of marital compatibility and family structure on the psychological well-being of married couples within the Indian socio-cultural context. A purposive sample of 120 married adults (60 males and 60 females), aged between 25 and 45 years, was selected from urban and semi urban areas of Gujarat. The study followed a 2 × 2 factorial design with Marital Compatibility (High vs. Low) and Types of Family (Nuclear vs. Joint) as independent variables, while Psychological Well-Being served as the dependent variable.
