An Impact of Modernization in Textile Industry on Weaver Community in Vidarbha Region

ABSTRACT The focus of this paper is subject to quantify the impact of modernization of textile industry on weaver community in Vidarbha region reference to the declining status, earning structure and change in social position of weaver community. The study is carried out at for labour families who are engaged of weaving occupation in both co-operative and non-cooperative sector. The study is focused the socio-economic status of labour families in weaving community. It is revealed that the modernization of textile industry and competitive situation are the major responsible factor for decreasing order of weaving occupation and decreasing order of low income of labours who is engaged in this occupation. The adverse economic impacts is occurred due to modernization of textile industries brings deterioration in quality of life of weavers community and their social status.
