ABSTRACT Building collapses in India have been a recurring and devastating issue over the past 15 years, causing significant loss of life and property. This paper analyzes major incidents from 2008 to 2024, identifying critical factors such as unauthorized construction practices, substandard building materials, poor design and structural oversight, and environmental stressors, particularly monsoon rains. The analysis aims to uncover patterns in structural failures, highlighting the need for stricter regulatory frameworks, advanced engineering solutions, and proactive maintenance strategies. Recommendations are proposed to enhance structural safety, focusing on regulatory compliance and the use of quality-assured construction techniques to prevent future collapses
