Arochaka: An Eating Disorder Described In Ayurvedic Samhitas

In ancient times, the right way of life was a part of almost every person's life. Today's fast and sedentary lifestyle causes many diseases. Proper food is required for proper growth and development for living beings which depends on appetite. Arochaka occurs when your desire to eat decreases. In Ayurveda, loss of appetite can be considered as Arochaka, in which a person faces problems like loss of taste in food and loss of appetite. It is a very common disease in society. Arochaka is recognized in Ayurveda as a separate disease and also as a symptom of various diseases. This disease is caused by eating heavy-junk food and wrong eating habits, stress, sedentary lifestyle. Some diseases like Jwar, Rajyakshma, Amplapitta, Pandu, Atisar, Grahanialso cause Arochaka. According to Ayurveda, Agnimandya is the root cause of all disease. Arochaka is a disease arising from Annavahasrotas and related to Rasavahasrotas. Due to Arochaka, weakness, weight loss, anemia, loss of immunity and so on, which induces some other manifestations. By treating Arochaka we can prevent many such future diseases.
