Ashtanga Yoga Based Intervention To Combat Anxiety & Promote Psychological Well-Being Among Young Adults

Author Name : Geetika Singh, Dr. Meena Osmany

ABSTRACT Anxiety and declining psychological well-being are pervasive challenges among young adults aged 18 to 25, often stemming from academic, social, and professional pressures. Ashtanga Yoga, a dynamic and structured form of yoga, offers a promising intervention to address these issues. This randomized controlled trial aimed to evaluate the effectiveness of a 12- week yoga intervention in alleviating anxiety symptoms and enhancing psychological well-being among young adults diagnosed with anxiety disorders. The intervention incorporated key components of Ashtanga Yoga, including asana (physical postures), pranayama (breath control), and dhyana (meditation), known for fostering physical, mental, and emotional balance. Sixty participants were randomly assigned to either a yoga and lifestyle modification intervention group or a control group.
