Assessment of the Awareness Regarding Hypoglycemia among Diabetes Mellitus Clients Attending Endocrinology OPD at Skims, Soura, Srinagar with a View to Prepare an Information Booklet

ABSTRACT Aim: The aim of the study was to assess the awareness regarding hypoglycemia among diabetes mellitus clients attending Endocrinology OPD at SKIMS, Soura, Srinagar. Methodology: A descriptive design was used on 100 diabetes mellitus clients, who were were selected by using purposive sampling technique. A self-structured interview schedule was administered to study subjects to assess the awareness regarding hypoglycemia. Results: Majority of study subjects (55%) demonstrated good awareness regarding hypoglycemia followed by 29% with average awareness while 12% showed excellent awareness and a small portion (4%) had poor awareness regarding hypoglycemia. There was significant association between awareness score of study subjects with their residence(0.018),education(0.007) and occupation(0.000).
