ABSTRACT Dysarthria is a common symptom of post-stroke etiology. The cornerstone of dysarthria treatment strategies continues to be behavioral therapy. “Be Clear” is a compensatory therapy strategy that has gained popularity. The key components of this technique are rate reduction and overenunciation of every sound. A Malayalam speaking male participant having 39 years of age with post-stroke dysarthria whose major complaint was reduced intelligibility of speech was recruited for the present study. The participant underwent „Be Clear‟ treatment program over the duration of 16 sessions across 4 weeks. The program included a pre practice phase and an intensive practice phase in which rate reduction and purposeful enunciation of all sounds modify their habitual speech to enhance intelligibility for a listener. Subsystem evaluation was carried out pre and post intervention.
